Evaluation of few Clovers

I was looking for a right cover crop with rice, wanted to try white clover which Fukuoka san had tried, but two times seed didn't even germinate. Recently got seeds of white clover, yellow clover and crimson clover and one more (to be identified), in exchange with Happy Hill rice seeds and to my surprise all of them germinated.

They couldn't survive the harsh summer, none of them flowered also, have some spare seeds will try them at the beginning of the next rainy season

Just curious how would a cover crop benefit rice?

Subith,

This is to try no-till which Fukuoka san had developed. No-till need a low growing nitrogen fixing cover crop which does not interfere with rice. In the initial stages when it interferes, flooding will retard its growth. This will provide a continuous coverage so that weeds does not get a chance.

Sir,
Instead of white clover, I have also tried Alfalfa. This also failed to germinate. Two times I tried, but failed. Please let me know where did you get the clover seeds. If possible please tell me the address. Than Q.

Hi Challa,

I got the clovers from US from a friend who exchanged it with happy hill rice seeds. I had found some suppliers - please see this

I haven't bought from them, you have to check the reliability by yourself.
